Assigned Entry #6 It All Ends With This

Before this semester began I had no clue what blogging was, and to be honest, I really did not like to blog till about a week ago. Last week was when I started taking this assignment seriously and I really wish that I took it serious from the beginning. Blogging is actually really fun and is not as hard as I thought it would be.

I am glad that blogging was an assignment for this class because if it was not I most likely would of never learned how to blog; so blogging was one of the things I learned in English 101, and I am thankful for it. I think that this assignment was useful in terms of getting to know the people in our class, especially since we only met one time a week. It was also useful to read about what other people in both Monday and Wednesday classes thought on assignments, and their reactions to what we learned. And the self generated blog let me see what was going on in other people’s lives (not in a stalking way though) but more of the ‘getting knowledge from older people’ type of way. Personally I think it is pretty cool to see what is important in people’s lives according to their age groups.
My suggestions to Amanda about how to help students with this project and get a better outcome is when you are giving this assignment out the first few days of class, let your students know that it is really not as hard as they might think. Also, I know it is a lot of work, but I think you should do one to. At least self generated ones, make it fun.

Lastly, THANK YOU for teaching me!! I learned a lot, and honestly I was not a big fan of English as a subject but this class was not half bad, I sort of liked it and looked forward to coming.

Self Generated Entry #5

Car Accidents, Really?

I think law suits are one of the meanest things to do, if it is not truly and honestly deserved. I got into a car accident three years ago when I was sixteen, and just recently I got ‘served’ with papers for a lawsuit. The lady suing me is eighty-four years old I might add and to be completely honest the accident was not my fault! I know, I know, everyone says car accidents are not there fault, but honestly this one is not mine.

We had our arbitration a few days ago, and I guess I was not fully aware of what she was claiming happened. But, at my arbitration they had two people sitting in the same room, describing the accident and it was like we both were at different accidents!  I was saying we ‘side-swiped’ and she was saying that we ‘t-boned.’

Literally everything one of us said, the other said the complete opposite. Another example, she was claiming she was making a left turn and I said she was making a right-hand turn. I have to wait two weeks for the results and to find out what side the judge believes. Cross your fingers that it is mine…

Assigned Entry #5 PiNk SLiMe

Pink slime!
                    What exactly is it?
"Pink slime" is a very disturbing product that is being fed to many children.  It should definitely not be consumed by schools or anyone for that matter. Due to the fact that it is actually the left over particles that would be used to make dog food but instead it is treated with ammonia oxide, ground up and added to the beef we as Americans purchase and consume.

The USDA,  who is supposed to protect us from products like pink slime, actually allows up to seventeen percent to exist in the food products that are purchased and eaten. I suppose that profit is more important to them rather than taking our health and safety into consideration when adding pink slime. I however believe that it should be band from any company or corporation altogether to ensure that no one is consuming meat that has not been cleaned and that is treated with chemicals that can be very harmful.
